金虫草土鸡面 (Chicken Noodle Soup With Cordyceps)

Dinner @ "锅品面吧", a noodle bat near my apartment.

 

Had a heavy lunch so wanted something light and something warm for the wintery evenings.

 

Cordyceps are a much prized Chinese tonic and traditional herb, famed for its ability to improve immunity. It is a curious creation of nature whereby a fungus attacked the pupae of a moth underground and fed off the pupae until the 2 are fused into 1 body.

 

It is usually double-boiled into a tonic soup in combination with chicken or pork.

 

Here, one usually cannot go wrong with chicken soup but it was a tad over salted. I do like the aroma of the broth though.
