麻辣牛肉乌冬汤面 (Sichuan-style Beef Udon Soup)

Lunch @ "老盛兴苏州汤包馆".

 

Seemingly the summer special.

 

But this main has nothing to shout about.

It did not had any stand-out characters especially when it professes to be Sichuan-style. The soup was neither numbing or spicy, although it did smell numbing and spicy.

 

I don't think Udon goes too well with the soup. It didn't soak up any of the flavours. The beef pieces were all right, passable but the tendons were a tad on the tough side.

 

The fried pork chop had surprised me pleasantly, so I was expecting more but I guess you can't have it all.
