烫青菜 (Poached Greens)

Dinner @ "Noodle Bull" (狠牛), the favourite beef noodle haunt of my Austrian colleague and another American ex-colleague.

 

"High class" beef noodles, with the wildly popular braised beef noodles served in a western modernised chic setting. The restaurant pushes the Asian communal eating concept, by having a long wooden table in the middle of the restaurant where various groups of customers can all sit side-by-side.

 

I have not returned to "Noodle Bull" since my first visit in 2010. I wasn't impressed then.

 

But this side dish of poached greens (petite Chinese cabbage) served with stewed minced pork is a star. The vegetable is sweet and crunchy and the savoury minced pork sauce perfected this appetiser. I could order a big plate and have it as a main!
