Euryale Seed/Fox Nut (芡实)

Tongli sells a lot of sweet desserts made from mashed Euryale seeds and visitors can always find older folks sitting down cracking open the nuts to extract the seeds.

 

Euryale seeds are used in traditional Chinese medicine. They have a barley like texture with a cereal-like grainy taste.
