甜酱杏鲍菇 (Tangy Abalone Mushrooms)

Dinner @ "耶里夏丽新疆餐厅" (Yeli Xiali Xinjang Restaurant), a restaurant specialising in Xinjiang cuisine.

 

I ordered this because I am intrigued to know what tangy sauce it would be but very disappointingly, it turned out to be.....ketchup. Yuck!

 

Considering that this is Xinjiang cuisine, I am sure there are more adventurous and more flavourful sauces to employ.

 

(Xinjiang produces 50% of the world's tomato crop but ketchup, homage it is not!)
