米糕 (Saucy Rice Dumplings)

The version from "米糕城".

 

I use the term "dumplings" loosely as it is more a loose scoop of rice.

Is it rice or is it glutinous rice, my mate and myself ponder between chews.

In the end, we decided it was rice but one with a more glutinous texture.

 

It was a small serving, good enough for a few mouthfuls, with rice served with a stewed lard gravy, cucumbers and a generous heap of pork floss.

 

Very moreish. Even though I was full by the time I reached this shop, I find my hands going back to the bowl for small little scoops and everytime, my mate has to remind me "get fat, get fat, get fat' to warn me.....

 

I just think it was because he hated the cucumbers in them.
