藥膳香腸/麻辣臭豆腐香腸 (Chinese Medicinal Herbs & Spicy Fermented Smelly Tofu Sausages)
The sausages from "不老莊".
Sausages are popular in Taiwan, as snacks as well as for gifting.
In recent years, various new flavours have popped up to take the market by storm.
My mate and myself each ordered interesting flavours.
I opted for the Spicy Smelly Tofu Sausage, which my mate complained tasted like faecal crap. Actually despite the cresol-pungency, the sausages were extremely moist and juicy, as the pieces of tofu helps to keep the sausages succulent. The aroma and taste can be very offending so I reckon this is not a taste for the faint hearted!
My mate's order of the Chinese Medicinal Herbs Sausage, on the other hand, reminded me of Angelica and Licorice, and quite frankly, reminded me of the black gunky goo that my grandmother use to consume as medicinal tonic....Shudder!
