虱目鱼Q饼 (Milkfish Floss Biscuit)

Now, this is intriguing!

Milkfish is very popular in Southern Taiwan, finding its way into a variety of snacks and dishes.

Here, the dried Milkfish floss forms part of the filling for the pastry, along with Mochi and salted duck egg yolk. I must confess, the contrast in both texture and flavours made this snack really mind-boggingly addictive.

I like the juxtapositioning of sweet versus salty. Soft versus crumbly. Rich versus smooth. A lot of things are going on at the same time with each bite!

Now, this is one Taiwanese snack I could really grow to like!
