Jjampong (Korean Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup) [辣椒三鲜辣汤面]

Lunch at a very famous restaurant "松竹庄" serving Chinese food with a Korean twist.

My local colleagues insisted this is the dish to try at this restaurant.

And it did not disappoint.

Noodles drowned in a spicy seafood broth, sweet and umami, with mushroom, vegetable, squid, mussels, prawns, winter bamboo....and water chestnut. Plus lots of chopped green chillies.

I enjoyed the heat but loathed the warmth. I was sweating buckets even though it's winter. Honestly, I think I would have enjoyed the noodles served dry.

Incidentally, my colleague ordered the soup separately. The soup itself had a gingery note but this was not detected in the broth used for the noodles. Intriguing!
