Kochu Jangatchi (Pickled Green Chilli)

Part of the Icheon Rice Meal.

 

My Korean colleague in Singapore is always fond of the pickled green chillies back home as he says that they reminded him of the taste of home.

 

Truly, I have not encountered his "taste of home" until this recent trip.

 

It is not as sharp or sour compared to its Singaporean cousin but certainly saltier. I like its heat and its spicy bluntness and it quickly grew on me.

 

Pairs well with meaty dishes.
