Nak-ji Bo-kum (Pan-Fried Spicy Octopus) AFTER
Dinner in a Mall Food Street eatery.
Octopus quickly becomes rubbery when over-cooked but here smothered and moisturised by plenty of chilli paste and vegetable juices, they stayed rather tender for quite some time.
The dish was both spicy hot and yet cloyingly sweet at the same time. I felt that there was too much chilli paste and the dish became over-laden and heavy. I hardly could make out any trace of the octopus - there should be a nice seafoody note but I failed to find it and so the dish became a tad one-dimensional.
