芦荟西米羹 (Sago With Aloe Vera)
Dinner @ "湖南" Spicy Moment in Shanghai. The restaurant has a western vibe to it and the dishes are hugely tamed in terms of heat and spiciness. It was Saturday and the place was packed not only with locals but also plenty of westerners.
Not the best taken shot unfortunately. The lighting was quite dark. Had to sacrifice some angles for light!
A slightly strange warm dessert. Sago is no stranger as it is a common dessert ingredient in Southeast Asia. Aloe Vera is no weirdo either. However, combining them together with pureed mixed berries or some sort of berry syrup I assume (the taste reminded me of raspberry puree or cough mixture) and serving it tart and tangy was a tad off-putting.
Kinda like eating berry flavoured lip balm in a gelantinous form.
