杏仁烧 (Almond Milk)

"Meet Fresh" (鲜芋仙) launched a hot almond range for winter in Shanghai this year.

 

I love almond milk except this version was quite different from the ones I enjoyed in Singapore. There was an oily film and there were chunky almond bits. I did not enjoy the oiliness at all. No one should like to drink oil.

 

I actually prefer the version from home, prepared the traditional Cantonese way, where the almond has been milled into a very fine grind and cooked with water and sugar to deliver a smooth and sweet dessert, free from oily film and chunky bits.
