Mile 18 - Las Vegas, NV
After a good night's sleep, we decided to leave Las Vegas bright and early, grabbing a quick breakfast at McDonald's. Sometimes it's just what you need. Aside from the bathroom doors having wireless locks activated by the cashiers, it was a seemingly normal McD's. I tried a McGriddle for the first time and enjoyed is sweet syrupie goodness. We hit the road, with Val barreling down the 15 - that's Interstate 15 for your East Coasters. There's not much between Vegas and the West Coast, aside from dessert, scrub, a few mountains, and billboards for everything you can imagine. The scenery around Mojave National Preserve was especially interesting with some Joshua Trees here and there as well. Detoured on old Route 66 West of Barstow, but didn't find too many old remnants. I think the best sections are probably back in Arizona and New Mexico.
