Rapids

Basaltic columns formed during cooling of a basaltic lava flow lie along the bank of the Fall River near Chester, Idaho. The rapids are caused by a restriction formed as the river cut through the basalt flow. This photo was taken near the bridge where US 20 crosses the river.
