Fitteen minutes earlier, Whitlocks End had been deserted following the departure of the 1847 to Worcester Foregate Street (see Whitlocks End Illuminated). Then a gaggle of people arrived, whom I naively thought were waiting for the 1859 departure to Stratford-upon-Avon for a festive night on the tiles. Not so, they had turned up to see the last Vintage Trains 'Polar Express' of the season, with the outward leg, 1Z18 1842 ex-Birmingham Moor Street hauled by Class 47 No. 47773 pictured arriving into the station.
