'Kolhapur' in Action
Thoughts of seeing former LMS 'Jubilee' No. 5593 'Kolhapur' restored to working order again (see If Only...) prompted a search for this view of the locomotive being worked hard through Wood End with a 'Shakespeare Express' working on 8th June 1986. This was before the regular summer-dated trains and 'Kolhapur' was sharing the work load with 'Castle' No. 7029 'Clun Castle' on a series of four return trains between Tyseley (Mainline) and Stratford upon Avon organised by the Birmingham Railway Museum, all via the North Warwickshire Line. Note the prefabricated concrete footbridge, which has since been removed. Copyright Photograph John Whitehouse - all rights reserved
