JCRC Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration
As Dr. Martin Luther King Day approaches, First Lady Mrs. Jacqueline Wilson reminds us why we take a day to celebrate his accomplishments.
The Jewish Community Relations Council welcomed Wayne State’s First Lady, Mrs. Jacqueline Wilson as the featured speaker for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration event held Thursday, January 12 at the Max M. Fisher Federation Building. The commemoration lead with a greeting from the JCRC /AJC President, Dr. Richard Krugel, and followed with selected readings by federation and agency staff members. Then, Executive Director of JCRC/AJC, David Kurzmann introduced Mrs. Wilson as the keynote speaker. Mrs. Wilson illustrated the successes of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. both in his personal career as a public figure and as a catalyst for societal change during a time that so desperately needed it. Mrs. Wilson and the members of Wayne State University’s HIGH Program hope to take a page from Dr. King’s book and help to bring the necessary change to our students in need.
