William Newstrom, October 21, 1941
Description: William Newstrom was born in Eskilstuna, Sweden on March 30, 1865 and came to Ellensburg, Washington in 1883. He was naturalized in 1890 in Kittitas County. William lived in Roslyn from 1888 until 1911. He was elected to the office of Kittitas County Clerk in 1911. From 1911 until 1936, he served as Kittitas County Assessor and was a deputy sheriff. Williams Creek in the Liberty, Washington gold mining area was named for Newstrom. He died on August 17, 1957 at the age of 92 years.
