Late night excavation
Excavation across all lanes of SR 520 begins overnight July 8.
From July 9-11, crews closed SR 520 for construction on the east side of Lake Washington and for annual bridge maintenance.
During the weekend closure, crews installed a new culvert that measures 230 feet long and 12 feet wide. Environmental regulations allow WSDOT to work in or near streams only until mid-September to avoid harming migrating fish.
The new, larger culvert will improve fish migration and is the second of eight total culverts that will be installed between Medina and Bellevue during the next three years.
