New bridge girders wait for pickup
Bridge girders for the new South 216th Street Bridge and new northbound I-5 flyover ramp in SeaTac, WA are ready and waiting for pick up and delivery in June 2023. These concrete girders are manufactured in Tacoma, WA.
The girders range from 65 feet to nearly 200 feet long. The heaviest girder weighs 252,100 pounds or 126 tons.
The new South 216th Street bridge will require 16 girders, only only six will be set in summer 2023 and the remaining ten in 2024.
There are 24 girders that will be set in June 2023 for the new northbound I-5 flyover ramp.
The new bridge and flyover ramp are just two improvements that are part of the Puget Sound Gateway Program's SR 509 Completion Project.
