Building the new road alignment
Not only does this project replace a small, dysfunctional culvert at Chain-up Creek, but it also shifts stretch of roadway further from the Nooksack River. The river has been eroding the banks and shoulder of the highway for several years now. Shifting the roadway will help reduce costly maintenance repairs and keep the road open to drivers.
You can see the existing roadway to the right in this photo, and you can see the alignment taking shape for the new roadway.
