Welding with precision

A crew member on the SR 520 West Approach Bridge North Project welded metal with precision as he worked on the widening of westbound SR 520.

Construction crews were busy along the SR 520 corridor during the March 13 - 16 weekend closure of westbound SR 520. Critical work activities on the SR 520 West Approach Bridge North Project included removing sections of concrete barrier to begin the widening of a portion of SR 520, creating a new work zone to build a newly configured off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard and installing a new combined sewer line under the highway. Crews working on the Eastside Transit and HOV Project used the closure to complete final construction activities on the SR 520 mainline lanes. Find out more about the new SR 520 on our website.

The SR 520 West Approach Bridge North Project is the next construction phase of the SR 520 Program. When complete in summer 2017, WABN will be built to modern earthquake standards and connect westbound-traveling vehicles, transit/HOV, bicycles and pedestrians from the new floating bridge to the Montlake area.
