The MUs are just out of Hammond and rolling uphill to what is the East Chicago Cut-off, which follows the Indiana Toll Road for a bit. When the toll road was built, it presented an opportunity for the South Shore to be rid of the street running in East Chicago, which was really becoming a operational nightmare with all the traffic.
