B&O GP30 6961, Blue Island, IL rescan
When the Chessie System started running the old Rock Island between Rockdale and Bureau, and down to Henry back in early 1982, operations didn't always go as planned. The intent was to run one eastbound and one westbound, the BORE and BORW, getting them over Metra's part of the Rock during the overnight hours. But there would be somewhat rare occasions when it was necessary to operate a daylight extra move. That's what we see here as B&O GP30 6961 leads a small westbound up Track Nine at Blue Island in March of 1982. At this time, GP30s and GP35s were the main power on the New Rock. The GP15Ts were still just a gleam in the Big Cat's eye.
