The D&H dispatchers were the last to be transferred to Minneapolis and it wasn't until the end of October, 1999, that we got up there. My wife was still back in Milwaukee, so I had plenty of time to wander around on my own. I headed over to Pigs Eye on a nice November afternoon and found an empty grain train just out of the yard headed west. I caught him crossing Jackson Street in downtown St Paul. The Mississippi River was right behind me. At the time I had no idea where this train was going, and probably still don't today. Even though I did dispatch the Minnesota desk, we didn't know or care how the train was coming, until he hit Shoreham. I honestly can't remember if the crews called us or the BN West Hump dispatcher did. Anyway, the leader was this GE dressed in the controversial dual flag scheme, with the RCMP shield on it. It would soon after this be repainted in the Golden Rodent style.
