Flat switching the old fashioned way. No gen-sets, no radio packs, no remote control, not even a radio. If you look really close, you can see the engineer on the other side of the cab leaning out the window looking for hand signals, and I don't mean the kind you'd see today. The most common hand signal today is the good old middle finger. Oh, and you probably won't find a nice B&O box car anywhere, either.
