I must be getting old.
I suppose this is useful to some demographic that I am not a part of. I mean, I remember reading up on TomKat when they first started dating, in a sort of 'watching a trainwreck go by' kind of sense of bewildered amusement. And I suppose I shouldn't be offended that they've been able to Illustrator Vectorize topics into some kind of Cartoony Importance, that humans become Vectorized Versions of Themselves.
I just wish this instant need to gratify instantaneously, to consume vapid useless data would somehow... go away. So much more important shite to deal with than the flames of Hotness coming out of Deborah Messing, y'know?
Don't get me wrong - when I communicate using an Instant Messenger applicaton I'll use the acronyms. I love memes - and I even like Vector Illustrations, honest! And I don't want to come off like a complete snob regarding culture. But something about the dumbing down aspect of this bothered me. I was irked when Technorati did it with their 'wtf' feature, and I'm irked with this one.
I think we'll do ourselves in more with the Entertainment Industrial Complex as much as the Military Industrialized one. Passively consume useless entertainment trivia as national passtime?
