Connect? Maybe not so.
When one UI element - a window - prevents any user action - like clicking on the button, it's time to rethink that element. I see this happen more and more, especially with the social media connection APIs, Facebook especially. I'm thinking it's on the 'asking for permission' end (in this case, TweetDeck) and not Facebook's problem, but not sure if that's correct.
