Greenfinch (Carduelis chloris)

There was a short break in the rain today. This poor weather beaten juvenile Greenfinch landed in our garden, and hopped about looking for food.

Then,obviously exhausted, it curled up into a fluffy little ball, and went to sleep.

I felt bad, but having just seen a neighbourhood cat prowling around by the pond, I knew action was needed. I got so close, I could easily have picked little Finchy up. It woke up, looked at me for a couple of moments, then flew off to some nearby trees.
