Pumping

Spent a fruitful day along the Evansville Western recently around the Mount Vernon, Indiana area. It can be a busy little railroad - especially between Mount Vernon and the spur for Abee / West Franklin, IN. They continued to pump trains just like this oil pump was pumping oil. We caught 8 different moves in a little over 8 hours trackside.

This is the MVL-1, a Mount Vernon based local freight turn between Mount Vernon and Evansville. They were on duty around 0700, switched a bit in town, made a pickup at the Port of Indiana then made another pickup off a storage track at Nations Siding just east of Mount Vernon. By the time we grabbed this shot, they were 72 cars for CSX at Evansville! The job came back railroad north a few hours later and had more work at Nations and the Port before calling it a day.

An afternoon job (MVL-2) came on and used the same power to do other chores in the evening.
