The High Dam

The Brittish did build a dam at Aswan but it wasn't very effective at regulating the Nile waters. The High Dam was build with Soviet money when the western nations turned down aplications for financial assistance. This led to the creation of Lake Nassar and the need for an international recovery effort to save ancient temples that were going to be submerged.
