Thailand, Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Ayutthaya

A brick pathway passes through the outer enclosing wall from the Chao Praya River side or the east side leading to a central staircase about 1.5 meters high. The staircase mounts to the first of three raised platforms, which was surrounded by the inner wall that no longer exists. Further down, both the bot (ordination hall, now only the base remains) and the gallery were each raised up even higher on their own bases.
