The marker beside the inukshuk reads: **John Kenneth Galbraith was born here Oct 15, 1908. Educated at the Ontario Agricultural College and the University of California, Berkeley, he joined the faculty of Harvard in 1934. During WWII he administered price controls for the US. Afterward he became the mose celebrated economist-statesman of the age, whose classic works include "The Great Crash," "The Affluent Society," and "The New Industrial State." An advisor to many presidents and a leading advocate for peace, Galbraith served as US Ambassador to India for John F Kennedy. He holds the Medal of Freedom and the Order of Canada.**
