The repair introduced a hazy glow at f/2.8. I suspect it wasn't present when it was new. The loss of the coating on the intermediate element is the likely culprit. Hand polishing has its limitations...some loss of sharpness could be due to uncontrollable surface removal. But the lens does once again works, and well enough stopped down.
