Green lands
I visited a site last week looking for fungi to photograph but stumbled across one of these guys almost every few steps. These are Dor beetles, Geotrupidae, or dung beetles.
I'm not sure why there were so many as I've read that they create burrows and lay eggs in the spring, looking for hibernating places perhaps.
I think this is Geotrupidae spiniger by the lobes on the edges of the mandibles.
