First RepRap 3d printing at Metalab

Good news from the Metalab.

On June the 18th of 2008 we printed our first test objects with our newly refurbished RepStrap.

For our first tests we used a 0.8mm nozzle to extrude HDPE that we extruded at about 180°C (not sure how accurate our thermistor is though). The resulting walls are 2.5 to 3mm thick.

As you can see we use ordinary gaffer tape as a base for the HDPE. The HDPE sticks to the gaffer extremely well. When you separatre the printed object parts of the gaffer keep sticking on the object though.
