June 10 Meconopsis betonicifolia 'Hensol Violet.'
They like a cool, damp climate like Scotland where they are grown a lot. I grow them in ericaceous soil in a container as they like neutral to acid soil and I keep them away from hot sun as much as possible. They are considered challenging to grow in the hotter, drier parts of the UK but I find them easy to germinate especially from fresh seed. The problem is getting them through the winter without a cool greenhouse so I find it better to store the seed in the fridge and sow in Jan or Feb. Snails are a major problems and vine weevils and vine weevils also attack them. I lose a lot that way and to difficult weather conditions. For detailed information on culture and pictures see www.meconopsis.org
Many thanks for your friendship, comments, invites and good wishes. Also thank you to those who have made me their contact. Due to poor health, eye problems and low energy I regret I can't respond in kind but nearly always manage to reply to your comments.
One invite welcome-more, too many.
