The Mane Attraction
Equus Altus (High Horse) by Andy Scott, 2013. Sculpture in the Trinity Centre, Leeds. He is the artist also responsible for the Kelpies in Falkirk.
4.5m high, it weighs two tonnes and stands on a steel column 10m high. Made from galvanised mild steel. Andy Scott spent ten months hand-welding small rectangles into this Cleveland Packhorse. This creates a shimmering effect. It references the wool and textile industries at the core of the Leeds industrial heritage because pack horses were used to transport cloth and other goods.
