“Pulled Rickshaws in Indigo”

Shot @ Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion / Penang / Malaysia
The striking indigo of the Cheong Fatt Tze mansion stands it out on Leith Street in Georgetown Penang. The 38 room house is big even for a mansion and was the favourite of Entrepreneur Cheong Fatt Tze, the preeminent in the east. Recognised by UNESCO it now serves as a small hotel and museum portraying the rich amalgam of traditional Chinese architecture and Peranakan culture of the region.
The pulled rickshaws seen against the indigo façade were a popular means of transport for the middle and upper class and integral to the contemporary culture.
