Pyxidanthera brevifolia, Carolina Sandhills NWR, Chesterfield Count, SC
This compartment was thinned a few years ago and is now the best site (that I have found) for Sandhills Pixie-moss. This patch has a large proportion of new vegetative growth and shares the space with Vaccinium tenellum. I now begin to look for blossoms around February 1st. This image is from 2/15/2023 but I did find a few open blossoms on 2/4/2025.
