Black and Gold

A shot from my recent trip to the south coast of Iceland. I was treated to a lovely show of golden light at sunrise. I really liked the way there was a curve in this sand dune which was illuminated by the early morning sun, this provided a wonderful leading line into Vestahorn mountain in the background. I don’t think I will ever tyre of the views on offer in Iceland. I’ve not seen conditions like I had on this trip before, it was -13 some days with frozen waterfalls and gale force winds. I now have aspirations to return in the summer and make a promise to myself to venture into the highlands and off the beaten track a little more. I feel that the last 12-18 months I’ve spent teaching myself woodland composition have hugely improved my general landscape photography no end. I now pay more attention to my composition trying to understand how elementals can work together and I feel this image is testimony to that even if I do claim so myself. I really find enjoyment in creating something new even in a location that is well established.
