Stuttgart Old Castle

The Old Castle was constructed in 950 as a location for horse-breeding. By the 1300s, the castle had become the old capital of Baden-Württemberg, and by the 1600s was extensively renovated into the Renaissance-style seen today. The Capital was moved to Ludwigsburg in the the 1700s, then moved back to Stuttgart (to the New Castle) by the 1800s. The Old Castle was extensively damaged by fire in 1931, then by bombing during WWII, but was restored in 1968.
