The Mining Engineer's office at the Empire Mine in Grass Valley, California. The wing on the left side was the "Secret Room" that housed the detailed three-dimensional sculpture of all the mine's tunnels and passages. The mine opened in 1850 and produced 5.8 million ounces of gold before it closed in 1956.
