wary
Despite my lens behaving abominably, one Royal Spoonbill, wary but still present, posed adequately for my trip to not be wasted.
Is a birding trip ever wasted? Probably not. Even the absence of birds gives us knowledge. Here in this frame is a bird without breeding plumage. I don't know what that means. But it might cause me to ask about seasons, gender, maturity et cetera. I need to know more.
Relax! I've never eaten a Spoonbill, and I'm not starting now.
