friday flashback — great dane
If you ask why I have posted this low quality, two dimensional image of an old frontispiece and a caption from a museum exhibit, if you dismiss the theme as old, irrelevant, not on trend, not Instaready then you may not, cannot, be my friend.
What might all look like Greek to you, but is Latin and Danish, in truth only needs that one word to evoke meaning: Steno. I cannot read Latin beyond Romanes eunt domis or Danish beyond hygge, but I know Steno.
Niels Stensen, Nicolaus Steno, compounded stratigraphic laws by which, knowingly or not, you live your daily life. If ever you've searched through a stack of papers, your laundry or the written lines on a page you'll inherently be interpreting what was put down first, if it is the right way up etcetera as tools to find what you seek. Stensen codified these for geological strata and laid the foundations for the science of stratigraphy.
This simple image puts you in the presence of greatness.
