🇨🇭 OeBB BDe 4/4 651 @ Balsthal (Scan)

In April 2012, I have started the project to scan the best photos in my personal archive, from the time I did not yet have a digital camera. Due to the fact that they are scanned images, the quality may be a bit poorer than what you are used to from me. Apart from that, I was younger then (I've started in 1998, when I was 13 years old), so composition and lighting may not be up to standards. Nonetheless, some documents are historic by now.

In the northwest of Switzerland, there is a rather atypical railway line. The standard gauge line runs from Oensingen (on the "Jurasüdfusslinie" Olten-Biel) to Balsthal, is about 4kms long and is operated by a railway company aptly called Oensingen-Balsthal-Bahn, or OeBB - not to be confused with the Austrian state railways ÖBB.

It exclusively employs second-hand stuff from the big Swiss railway companies such as SBB and BLS, making it a sort of living museum. Also - at least in the year 2002 - it still employed the concept of the PmG, the "Personenzug mit Güterbeförderung" or mixed passenger-freight train.

Here, ex-SBB motor car no. 651 of the BDe 4/4 class is arriving in Balsthal as PmG 507. Balsthal, 22-07-2002.
