Highlands Sunrise - Whitesides Mountain Landscape in Highlands North Carolina
Update 7/12/12: This image is featured on the cover of the May issue of Outdoor Photographer Magazine.
We were treated to a spectacular sunrise during our trip to Highlands, NC in the Spring of 2011 for the Highlands Village Square art festival. "Rhodes Big View" overlook outside of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers a great view of Whitesides Mountain and the valley below at any given time, but it is especially striking at sunrise. The dynamic sky over the fog filled valleys of the Nantahala National Forest in the golden light of early morning really made this scene special in my opinion.
