Steve Garrington says:
This is the description with the photo, as surreal as the image itself - fascinating stuff!------"When I was in England I stumbled upon this man on the beach, half dressed, bruised and bleeding. He was shivering violently and his teeth chattered together so much his words were barely audible, but he managed to tell me he had carried this suitcase full of rocks all the way from France, or rather... swam with it... across the English Channel.
When I asked him why, he explained that he was carrying out an old tradition; The suitcase full of rocks represented all his worries, and he swam the channel in order to take them, and leave them, far, far away. I wondered out loud if he was going to swim all the way back again. To which he replied, "Fuck no, I'm taking the Eurostar. ...Do you have any socks?"
We laughed and laughed, thawed our feet and hands on car air vents, and then went back to where I was staying, where we ate Mexican food, and I discovered he was actually a crazy Flickr photographer named Simon McCheung!! Small world, ay?"
Steve Garrington says:
Lynn really nailed this, I can't imagine she had much time to snap this wee beastie, but what a job! Everything is perfect, composition, exposure, focus, colour, just perfect!
On a personal note, this is the image that beat me into second place for the "Frame It" group's photo of the year contest, and I have to say that I voted for it, a very well deserved winner.
