Monolopia Sunset, Carrizo Plain

Carrizo Plain, California

VibroOne and I made the 2.5 hr trek to Carrizo Plain after church on Sunday in hope of finding some flowers that had been reported in past weeks. When driving in over the mountains, it didn't look good as the flora was browing all over. But, we just drove on, discouraged, to the usual flower locations anyway, and happily, there were still extensive beds of Monolopia and Tidy Tips. We were able to get lots of "nice" shots of flowers but waiting till sunset was the right decision since the clouds were also cooperating. I've posted this one as it had the best sun star my 24-105mm lens could muster at f/22. There are certainly better lenses for doing this, but that will have to wait I'm afraid. The clouds did pink up after the sun set; that post will come later :-)

Exif:

Camera: Canon 5D2

Exposure: 1/13s

F: f/22

ISO: 100

Ebias: 0

Flen: 24mm
